In my day, art was not encouraged as a career so I became a registered nurse and worked for 25 years in that capacity. Over the years, I pursued my love of art attending workshops and night school to obtain an associate degree in art. Two years later I had a BS degree in art and art education from East Carolina University. I taught art education in high school for a few years and then made the leap of faith to open my own studio.
Several of my art teachers have influenced me and of course my favorite artists are the French Impressionists and the art masters. My style is usually realistic but I have been known to produce abstract as well. I have produced textiles, weavings, jewelry and paintings on canvas as well as silk. Currently I am concentrating on commissions done with watercolors, acrylics, pastels or oil.
Some of my favorite subjects include people, nature (especially the North Carolina coast), and whatever I find that makes me happy. I love the challenge that commissioned paintings have brought me because I discovered I can paint castles in Germany to antique cars! I am living my dream so what can be better. Come see my dream!
